Mission:


To provide faculty, staff, and students the best possible environment for teaching, learning, research and public service activities while preserving features significance that signify KSU’s rich heritage as an HBCU. This is done by translating departmental needs into major Capital projects developed to gain the maximum benefit to the University as a whole, consistent with its growth patterns and latest technological enhancements and facility attributes. Capital planning and budgeting, as well as facilities master planning, is implemented through design and construction, including renovations and lands acquisitions to accommodate the demands of programming at this expanding University.

Space Utilization


Capital Planing and Construction provides assistance with space allocations, office reassignments and optimization of space for University departments and units. Space utilization plans are provided to effect the efficient use of office, classroom and study space. As well as the appropriate designation for classifications of space consistent with enrollment. This includes migration plans and functional unit co-location analysis.

Design and Construction Management

Capital Planning and Construction is the liaison between KSU administration, user groups and the various departments of the Commonwealth of Kentucky (Division of Engineering, Contracting and Administration, and the Budget Office). Provides a regular update to the campus master plan to be in sync with the President’s Strategic Plan.
