AMANET in brief:

The African Malaria Network Trust [AMANET] started its activities as African Malaria Vaccine Testing Network [AMVTN] in 1995 with the primary goal of preparing Africa in planning and conducting malaria vaccine trials. However, due to expanding goals in malaria interventions, AMVTN was succeeded by AMANET in 2002 to reflect a widened scope that incorporates a broad and integrated approach in the fight against malaria.

The expanded role include among others; creation of global awareness of the African malaria burden, advancement of essential human capacity for research and development of malaria intervention in Africa, determination of the needs and characterisation of potential sites for testing malaria interventions in Africa and promotion of good governance, efficient management and networking of malaria institutions in Africa.
