MOS In the Community
Community Relations
Extending to all realms of the Museum, community relations promotes participation by new audiences, in particular those from under-represented cultural and ethnic communities and individuals with disabilities.
Partnerships and CollaborationsA major component of the strategy is developing partnerships and collaborations with community-based organizations that work during out-of-school time with youth ages 10 - 19 or with adults who are under represented.
Through these partnerships, the Museum is able to leverage the resources available within various communities and also to reach new audiences. The Museum relies on these communities for consultation, evaluation, staff development, promotion, and recruitment. In return, our partners utilize a number of resources available at the Museum like the Computer Clubhouse, scholarships for overnights, youth volunteer positions leading to paid internships, and others listed below.
