CDC Responds: Update on West Nile Virus For Clinicians and Laboratorians

Public Health Training Network Satellite Broadcast & Webcast

Originally aired August 8, 2002 ~ 3:00-4:00 PM EDT
This live satellite broadcast will provide up-to-date information on the epidemiology of and prevention strategies for the control of West Nile virus. This program, targeted to clinicians, laboratorians, and public health officials, will present current information on clinical and laboratory diagnosis of West Nile virus. The program will include a question and answer session via toll-free telephone lines.
Goal
To provide updated information regarding the pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical diagnosis, and laboratory testing for West Nile virus infection, and to review prevention strategies.

Objectives
After viewing this program, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the epidemiology of West Nile virus in the United States.
  • Define the clinical symptoms, diagnostic and testing procedures for West Nile virus.
  • Understand the laboratory tests for West Nile virus.
  • Describe the prevention and control strategies for West Nile virus.
Target Audience
Physicians and other healthcare providers, laboratorians, and public health officials.
