Funderburg joined the Noble Foundation in November 2000 as a soil and crops specialist. He has broad experiences in agriculture, including soil testing, irrigation water quality, soil fertility and fertilization of most crops and nutrient management planning. He has conducted numerous on-farm research projects examining fertilizer rates, sources, timing and soil test calibration.
He worked as assistant county agent with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service from 1977 to 1981. He was the state soils and fertilizer specialist with the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service from 1984 to 1990. He then served as state soils and fertilizer specialist with the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service from 1990 to 2000.
Funderburg was born and raised in rural northwestern Louisiana.
