  • For suspected West Nile virus (WNV) infections, check with your local or state health department for reporting requirements.
  • WNV encephalitis is on the list of designated nationally notifiable conditions.
  • Aseptic meningitis is reportable in some jurisdictions.

The timely identification of persons with acute WNV or other arboviral infections may have significant public health implications and will likely augment the public health response to reduce the risk of additional human infections.
