Multidisciplinary Research Teams

Nanotechnology research is by nature an interdisciplinary endeavor. Investigators with basic science, engineering and clinical backgrounds must work closely together in order to design new drugs and diagnostic tools that combine nanostructured materials, biological molecules, and novel instrumentation. The NCI will initially use existing training and career development mechanisms as a first step to building an interdisciplinary, nanotechnology workforce, and to support the research teams working on NCI-funded nanotechnology projects. The NCI has also implemented innovative policies and incentives to support a team approach to scientific investigation. To learn more about the NCI’s efforts to support training and team development in nanotechnology, click on the awarded programs below.
