Graduate Programs

The LRES Department offers advanced study leading to an M.S. Degree in Land Resources and Environmental Sciences or Land Rehabilitation, and the cross-college doctoral degree in Ecology and Environmental Sciences.  We also partner in two cross-departmental M.S. degree programs.

The department has a large and diverse group of graduate students, who consistently receive awards from professional societies and are active and successful in securing competitive grants and in other professional activities.

Graduate student research projects are related to the diverse interests of LRES faculty members. The Department conducts outstanding research in the areas of environmental sciences, land rehabilitation and restoration ecology, soil processes, soil and environmental microbiology, invasive plant ecology and management, remote sensing and spatial analysis, cropping systems, hydrology, watershed analysis, fluvial ecology, agricultural and environmental risk assessment, geobiology, biogeochemistry, and entomology.
