Overview

This module introduces displays that are designed for sense modalities other than vision. Visual displays are by far the most used, as we typically rely heavily on our visual sense. However, at times, non-visual displays are more appropriate, depending upon the user, the system, and the environment. Other sense modalities that can be used for information displays are:

    • Auditory - Hearing
    • Cutaneous - Touch, Temperature, Pressure, Pain
    • Kinesthetic - Motion, Force, Body and Limb Movement
    • Olfactory - Smell
    • Gustatory - Taste.
