Lesson Goals

Upon completion of this module, you should have an understanding of how teams are used in both the government and commercial sectors and in both safety critical and non-safety critical applications. This module first addresses non-safety critical teams, including what constitutes a “team” and how a “team” differs from a “group.” You will also learn the advantages of a team, as well as when teams should and should not be used. The different types of teams are presented and the most appropriate use of each. Other topics in the first part of this module include:

  • Team development,
  • Attributes of successful teams,
  • Successful team behaviors,
  • Team goals,
  • Team motivation,
  • Team performance measurement.
