View All News October 9, 2008 RULES EASED FOR NEW PERMANENT RESIDENTS– – –Foreign visitors can do 'landing' inside Canada Citizenship and Immigration Canada has changed its regulations so that foreign visitors who have received their permanent resident visa no longer must leave the country to have their new status officially recognized. In Manitoba, that means temporary residents who have received their Canadian permanent resident visa can go to the CIC office at The Forks in Winnipeg to complete their "landing." Previously, foreign nationals were required to travel to Emerson, N.D., in the United States, then re-cross the border into Canada by showing their permanent resident visa at the Canadian port of entry and being permitted to re-enter. If you need to complete your landing phone the CIC call centre at 1-888-242-2100 to arrange an appointment with CIC at The Forks. MORE: Read the details of new CIC policy |
