What is RSS?

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML format designed for sharing web content like news headlines. An RSS feed consists of a list of items, each of which contains a headline, description, and a link to a web page. For Newswise.com RSS service, the full-text article is made available on www.Newswise.com and can be accessed by the link in the RSS service.

How do I use RSS?

To use RSS, you will need a special RSS newsreader or aggregator that will allow you to collect and display RSS service. RSS newsreaders allow you to view the services you select all together in the same place and, by automatically retrieving updates, stay current with new content soon after it is published.

There are many different newsreaders available, many for free. Most newsreaders are applications that you download and install. Some others are web-based services you sign up for that work inside your browser.

Click here for a list of newsreaders available for all major computer platforms.

After setting up your newsreader, you will be ready to use Newswise RSS. To subscribe to Newswise RSS, right-click (PC) or control-click (Mac) on one of the channels and select "Copy Shortcut" or "Copy Link Location" to copy the location (URL) of the service. Follow the instructions for your particular newsreader, and then paste this location wherever it asks for the location of the service you wish to subscribe to.
