Zion National Park's 100th Anniversary in 2009

In 2009, Zion National Park is celebrating a "Century Of Sanctuary". Zion was established as Mukuntuweap National Monument by President William Taft on July 31, 1909. The Park plans to have a series of celebrations and events to commerate this historic milestone.

The following events are currently planned in conjunction with Zion National Park’s celebration of a “Century of Sanctuary”. Please check back as more events, activities and programs will be announced.

-Tunnel Walk -August 26. Tunnel Walk through the 1.1 mile-long ZionMt. Carmel Tunnel. Advanced registration required.

-Zion History Component of Educational Field Institute Classes with Historical Themes -March, April, October 2009

-Special Exhibits in Human History Museum -

-Film Series of Movies filmed in and near Zion National Park - Summer 2009

-Lecture Series - October 8, 2008 - February 9, 2009
