This study analyses the trade policy environment in the People’s Republic of China with a focus on trade-related regulations and their role in supporting China’s market openness. The report examines in particular to what extent China’s trade regulations comply with the principles of transparency and non-discrimination and facilitate foreign trade operations and international competition.

Thirty-six exporting countries, including 29 OECD countries plus Brazil, Estonia, India, Israel, Romania, Russia and Slovenia, issued a statement pledging continued export-credit support for international trade deals in line with a call by G20 leaders for emerging and developing economies to retain access to financing for imports in the present financial crisis.
