Zeng-yu Wang leads the tissue culture and genetic transformation program at the Noble Foundation. This program seeks to develop novel germplasm in furtherance of the mission of the Forage Improvement Division. Zeng-yu received his BS (1985) and MS (1987) degrees in Agronomy from Hebei Agricultural University, and PhD (1990) in Agronomy from Beijing Agricultural University, China. Zeng-yu completed a 5-year postdoctoral appointment at the Institute of Plant Sciences, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland, in 1995, and then moved to Australia and served as a research scientist (Victorian Public Service Officer band 4) for 3 years at the Plant Biotechnology Center, Agriculture Victoria, located at La Trobe University, Melbourne.

Zeng-yu joined the Forage Improvement Division in March, 1998. The research focus of his lab has been on the generation of novel germplasm by direct introduction of agronomical genes into important forage crops. Main research areas include developing tissue culture and transformation techniques, cloning agronomic genes and promoters, and production of transgenic forage plants with improved agronomic traits. For details, see the tissue culture and transformation research report.
