Kentucky State University

University Professional Development Center

MISSION:

The University Professional Development Center (UPDC) is dedicated to facilitating all professional development workshops and training activities on the Kentucky State University campus. The center provides dedicated staff and technical resources which can be scheduled to provide faculty and staff training sessions to upgrade or enhance professional and/or pedagogical skills. The UPDC combines the resources of The Center for Innovation in Teaching, Learning and Assessment (CITLA) and those of the Professional Training Office in the Department of Human Resources. This combination ensures that Kentucky State University maintains its commitment to faculty and staff professional development in a cost effective and organizationally efficient manner. Housed in Room 368 of the Julian Carroll Academic Services Building, the center offers the flexibility of a small group or a large group training environment. Computer and presentation equipment enable multimedia selections that best match the needs of varied learning outcomes. UPDC training and skill development resources support faculty and staff workshops, seminars and individual instruction. As the University faces the challenges of a rapidly changing environment within the 21st century, state and federal mandatory training can be provided on a scheduled or on an as needed basis. The center facility, its staff and its resources are available to all university units that need to conduct staff and/or faculty development activities.
