SWASH Schematic

Schematic of SWASH methodology

This schematic diagram shows how the SWASH system finds the horizontal position of the target elevation contour (designated as the "shoreline") from the horizontal and vertical position of the driven buggy track and the corresponding measurement of beach slope. Shoreline position is found by using the beach slope to extrapolate the position of the measured survey track to the position of the mean high water contour.
