Housing Assistance Representative I

$4,089 - $4,518 monthly

(Appointment is generally made at one of the first of three steps, depending on qualifications.)

Under supervision, will negotiate rents with landlords, inspect housing units, enforce compliance with housing quality standards, perform reexamination of income, counsel participants on self sufficiency programs, maintain a caseload of contracts, and perform other related work as required.

Requires a BA and applicable experience; a valid class C CDL and insurable driving record; knowledge of Section 8 programs and landlord and tenant rights; the ability to speak and write effectively; counsel, interpret and apply regulations; strong computer literacy; and exceptional organization and time management skills. Candidates with bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese are encouraged to apply. Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
