Bike 'N Ride Bicycle Program

Bike rack on Metrobus Metro recognizes the many benefits of bicycling. Bicycling can be an easy and inexpensive way to get to a Metro Station, a bus stop or park and ride lot. Metro is working to promote bicycling as a healthy, environmentally friendly way of getting around the tri-state area. These efforts are an important part of Metro's commitment to improving mobility and protecting our environment.

About Bike 'N Ride

Bicycling has become exceedingly popular as people are using their bicycles every day for commuting, shopping, and general transportation. With this in mind, Metro offers cyclists the Bike 'N Ride program.

Many Metro stations have facilities for bicycle storage so you can ride your bicycle to a station, leave it there, and take Metrorail or Metrobus. Our storage facilities include racks for free and lockers for rent. Facilities are available on a first-come, first-use basis. Two types of racks can be found at Metrorail stations, Inverted U racks and Rally III racks. For more information, see our bicycle parking page.

Safety

Bicycle riding is a lot of fun, but accidents happen. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (part of the Centers for Disease Control), bicycle helmets have been shown to reduce the risk of head injury by as much as 85 percent. The number one goal for Metro is safety and we want to ensure the same for the bicycle-transit community. See more information on being a safe cyclist both inside and outside the Metro System.

Additional Bicycling Information

There are several private and government organizations that offer helpful information on local bicycle trails, commuting, safety, advocacy, the annual Bike to Work day, the Street Smart Program, and many other bike events, services, and initiatives.
