Advanced Monitoring Systems Initiative (AMSI)
 AMSI integrates the development, testing, and evaluation stages
of sensor technology. The goal is to overcome delays resulting from
treating these stages as totally separate functions. AMSI actively
searches for promising advanced sensors and monitoring system components
for further development. It also keeps current with end-user needs. AMSI
provides rapid prototyping, systems integration, and field testing using
the unique facilities of the Nevada Test Site (NTS).
AMSI activities are centered at the NTS using local resources, the
U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration
laboratories and the Nevada university system. These capabilities are
shared with other institutions in support of NTS mission
diversification.
