On Thursday, after what The Politico is calling "eleventh-hour dealing with the White House," Arlen Specter (R-PA) placed a tie-breaking "nay" vote on a bill that would have delayed a 10.6 percent cut in Medicare payments to doctors. According to The Politico, Specter, who has Hodgkin’s disease, "acknowledged that he voted no after White House representatives assured him that they would work with him on an administrative fix to increase Medicare reimbursements for oncologists."
