CARES

The Service's CARES system is an automated employment application processing system which electronically prescreens candidates and ranks them according to specified criteria. CARES lets you search for job vacancies in the Service. You must fill out several pages of electronic forms in order to use the system. Once you have logged on and created an on-line resume, you can find and apply for vacancies.

Student Jobs

We occasionally hire student employees. There are two available programs, SCEP and STEP.

  • The Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) can lead directly to a job with the Service after graduation.

  • The Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) is a general student job program.

See StudentJobs.Gov, the national student job portal.

USAJobs

This is the main portal for Federal jobs. If you are looking for a Fish and Wildlife Service job, you can use the Agency Search feature.

Volunteers

Occasionally we use volunteers. Contact us if you have a skill that you think we could use. Also, most refuges need lots of volunteers. See this page for a list of refuges in our area. Also, check out Volunteer.gov/gov, the national volunteer portal.
