2008 Illinois State Championship Rube Goldberg Machine Contest for High Schools

  • To be held on a Satuday, March 22, 2008, at the Chicago Children's Museum on Navy Pier.
  • Six Illlinois high school teams will compete to be named the state's best at building the zaniest machine that takes 20 or more steps to assemble a hamburger consisting of no less than one precooked meat patty, two vegetables and two condiments, sandwiched between two bun halves.

2009 Argonne Rube Goldberg Machine Contest for High Schools

  • 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Chicago Children's Museum, Navy Pier, Chicago.
  • Up to 12 Chicago-area high school teams will build the zaniest machines possible that take 20 or more steps to replace an incandescent light bulb with a more energy-efficient light-emitting design.
  • In cooperation with the Theta Tau Rube Goldberg Machine Contest, the Chicago Children's Museum, and Rube Goldberg, Inc.

2008 Engineering Open House Rube Goldberg Machine Contest for High Schools

  • Friday, March 7, 2008, at the Illini Union.
  • High school teams will build the zaniest machines possible that take 20 or more steps to assemble a hamburger consisting of no less than one precooked meat patty, two vegetables and two condiments, sandwiched between two bun halves.

2008 Theta Tau National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest

  • Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Armory at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.
  • University teams from across the nation will build the whackiest machines possible to assemble a hamburger consisting of no less than one precooked meat patty, two vegetables and two condiments, sandwiched between two bun halves.
