Information on new arthritis drugs for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis can be found on the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases web site.

FDA consumer information is available for the following prescription drugs:

  • Arava is used to treat active rheumatoid arthritis in adults to reduce signs and symptoms, and to slow down damage to joints.
  • Celebrex is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis in adults. It is also used for acute pain in adults and painful menstrual cycles.
  • Mobic is used to relieve the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis in adults.
  • FDA issued a Public Health Advisory on Vioxx as its manufacturer voluntarily recalls the product. Vioxx Information (9/30/2004)
