Home Prospective Students Choosing Ohio State College Life
College Life Print E-mail

Welcome to College! This isn’t high school anymore…

“The classes and other activities at Ohio State have changed my life in a major way.”

“When I came to OSU I knew there would be many good times outside of class and figured that the class portion would be a boring struggle. I was right about the extracurricular activities, but I found the classes to be much more than I expected.”

“You fall in love with the landmarks and the sports that the overall University provides, but the smaller group of people on Ag Campus is what has made me feel comfortable.”

WHERE WILL I LIVE?
Your choice! Most of the first year students live in one of our 28 residence halls on campus…if you want, you can even live and learn with fellow plant science students in the Norton House.

BDBITLWHAT ABOUT FOOTBALL GAMES?
Yes, you can go to games at the Horseshoe! So you may not be sitting on the 50-yard-line, but who cares when you are cheering on the Buckeyes with 100,000 of your closest friends?

WHAT IS THERE TO DO AFTER CLASS?
When you’re ready to take a break from the books, there are countless events happening on campus and around Columbus each and every day. You’ll never be bored; in fact, you’ll probably have trouble deciding how many intramural teams you can compete on, which concert to attend, and how many multi-cultural events you can fit in.

SHOULD I JOIN A STUDENT ORGANIZATION?
Sure, but only if you want to make friends, learn about activities planned, and get a jump on job opportunities in your field. There are several organizations that offer Hort and Crop Science students a chance to compete in national events, host sales and learn about the plant science industry: Landscape and Floriculture Forum (LAFF), Turfgrass Club, Crops and Soils Club, Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), and Pi Alpha Xi (PAX). You can also check out the OSU Student Organization Directory.
