HPC Experimental Products

These experimental products, produced by the HPC, are made available for evaluation purposes only. They are intended to be a demonstration of the types of products that the HPC may produce in the future, if there is a need for them. They are NOT official NWS products. We will do our best to make these products available on a regular basis, but, as experimental products, they may not always be available.

  • 24-Hour Observed Precipitation Chart   -- HPC has introduced an experimental graphic that displays daily 24-hour observed precipitation amounts over the contiguous U.S.  Precipitation accumulations are valid at 1200 UTC each day and consist of observations collected by NWS Weather Forecast Offices and River Forecast Centers (RFCs).   These data are collected and processed by NCEP's Climate Prediction Center (CPC), then made available to HPC. This page contains an archive of charts from May 4, 2008, to the present.  Please view the Product Description Document for additional information.
  • HPC QPF files (in GRIB format)  -- Note: This product has moved to our operational QPF page (scroll to the bottom to access the link).

  • Text file containing departures from normal max, min, and pop compared with normal values for days 3 through 7.  -- Note: This product is available on our operational Days 3-7 pages, including the Maximum and Minimum Temperatures.   These links also contain an updated version of this product with more parameters (scroll to the bottom to access this data).

  • HPC's Day 4-7 Gridded Forecasts  -- Note: This link has been moved to the main menu on our operational Days 3-7 pages.

  • HPC's Day 3-7 500mb height forecasts for the Western U.S.  -- Note: This link has been moved to the main menu on our operational Days 3-7 pages.
