Research Assistants

CIESIN, a center within the Earth Institute at Columbia University based in Palisades, New York, is seeking student assistants to work on various projects at the intersection of the social, natural, and information sciences. Semester-long positions are available with flexible hours and some possibility for extension. At present we are interested in research assistants to help with integrating social science and natural science data, including data processing and documentation for NASA data center work aimed at improving linkages between socioeconomic and earth science data. Successful applicants will be matched to specific tasks based on skills and interests. Knowledge of some of the following software will be needed: Excel, Access, SPSS or STATA, MATLAB, and ArcGIS.

Currently-enrolled Columbia University students are preferred with Federal Work Study eligibility included as part of a current financial aid package.

CIESIN is located on the Lamont campus of Columbia University in Palisades, New York. A 40-minute ride from Columbia's Morningside Heights campus, the free shuttle bus makes five round trips each weekday.
