Tax Incentives

On this page you'll find links to information on building solicitations and tax incentives for consumers and businesses. In carrying out its vision and mission, the Building Technologies Program conducts a broad portfolio of activities to help make residential and commercial buildings more energy efficient, productive, and affordable.

Research, development, demonstration, and technology transfer is conducted in partnership with industry, government agencies, universities, and national laboratories that are often designed as cost-shared projects. In fact, most of the research conducted by the program is funded through competitive solicitations with partners. The program selects its research partners and projects based on factors such as energy savings potential, likelihood of success, and alignment with the recommendations of industry-developed technology roadmaps.

DOE Information and Opportunities

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Financial Opportunities Web site provides information on current solicitations in the building technologies area as well as links to useful resources about financing and incentives for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for the home, business, industry, utilities, and government. In addition, DOE's e-center contains information on doing business with DOE programs. Learn more about renewable energy funding opportunities, register to submit proposals, and obtain information and guidance on the acquisition and financial assistance award process.

Tax Incentives for Energy-Efficient Technologies

In addition to direct participation in cost-shared research, the federal government offers tax incentives to encourage consumers and businesses to develop and adopt energy-efficient technologies and products. Information and resources regarding these opportunities can be found on our Tax Incentives page.
