Purdue University students will put their knowledge about biology and bacteria to the test when they compete November 8th and 9th in the annual International Genetically Engineeered Machine competition.

Soy Contest to Award $25,000! Corn Contest to Award $6,000! The Indiana Soybean Alliance is sponsoring a contest for Purdue students that will award the winners $25,000 for 1st place, $10,000 for second tier teams and $5,000 for third tier teams.

Dr. Marshall Porterfield Helps Develop Tool to Measure Oxygen Flux as an Indicator of Physiological Stress in Fish
Team members Brain C. Sanchez, Hugo Ochoa-Acuna, D. Marshall Porterfield and Maria S. Sepulveda have developed a method of measuring oxygen rates in fish embryos. These embryos are sensitive to contaminants and stressful conditions and this technology could identify and confirm the presence of minute levels of toxic substances.
Larry Huggins Awarded the ASABE Massey-Ferguson Educational Award

Dr. Michael Ladisch Named One of the One Hundred Engineers of the Modern Era by AIChE
West Lafayette, IN – June 2, 2008 – Dr. Michael Ladisch, Distinguished Professor in the Agricultural and Biological Engineering department and Director of Purdue’s Laboratory of Renewable Resources Engineering (LORRE) was recently named one of the “One Hundred Engineers of the Modern Era” by The American Institute of Chemical Engineer (AIChE).

Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (by courtesy), and Chemical
Engineering (by courtesy), was selected for NSF CAREER Award for his
proposal titled "Transfected cell microarray technology based on
microfluidic electroporation".
