Crop Science is the application of biological, chemical and physical principles to crops and cropping systems to increase their efficiency in converting light and supplemental resources into food, feed, fiber, or ornamental commodities such as floral crops.
Landscape Horticulture involves both the growing of trees, shrubs, vines, ground covers and herbaceous perennials and their uses in designed, aesthetic environments. They add functionality by moderating temperature, abating noise, reducing glare and increasing privacy and security. Professional Golf Management is a new major currently being reviewed by the University. It is designed to provide a world class educational opportunity for students by combining the academic requirements of The Ohio State University with the golf business knowledge and golf aptitude expectations of the Professional Golfer’s Association of America. A career in golf management requires diverse knowledge and skills including finance, personnel management, marketing, food and beverage management, merchandising, plant science, inventory control, lesson planning, individual and group teaching, and social and professional interactions, as well as golf skills.
