Dear Mid-America Fruit Growers

Subject: 2009 Mid-America Fruit Growers Conference and Trade Show, 150th Anniversary of the Missouri Horticultural Society Celebration

I’m Rita Sisk, chairman of MAFGA conference and President of the Missouri Horticultural Society. We would like to invite you to Columbia, MO to Marriott’s Courtyard Inn to learn, share, network and celebrate the Missouri State Horticultural Society's 150th year of existence. This facility is located just off Hwy 63 on the Southeast side of Columbia at 3301 Lemone Industrial Blvd. and is one of Columbia’s newest facilities. The entire conference will be held at this facility starting Tuesday afternoon, January 13th.

Tuesday’s sessions will be regulatory issues that effect us all and a look towards finding workers through the H2A program with a presentation from a recruiter and a grower who have experience with the program already.

Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions will emphasis a unique blend of presentations on growing tree fruits, small fruits and marketing that we feel sure to will be informative and helpful not matter what the size of your operation.

A change this year is we will not be having a post-conference bus tour as Agri-Missouri has organized the first ever Agritourism Conference at the Lodge of the Four Seasons located on the Lake of the Ozarks. Just over a 1 hour drive from Columbia to the Lodge. Agri-MO has lined up a very informative 2 day conference no matter wether you are a novice agrimarketer or a old veteran.  On the next page of the program we have further information about the conference. Not only will we highly recommend the conference but also the Lake of the Ozarks area is a great vacation area with lot’s to see and do.

We know if you are bringing coworkers, spouses or friends you will always find something to do in the Columbia area. The town has a wonderful vibrant atmosphere with three college’s located in town, great shopping and many great places to be entertained should you want to get away from the conference.

For room reservations in Columbia you can call 573-443-8000 and ask for the Mid-America Fruit Growers room rate or see the internet website on the following page. As a reminder, Breakfast is not included in the cost of the conference or room costs this year.

You can register for the conference at www.midamericafruit.org or mail the enclosed registration to Mike Gerhardt, 1732 Jackson Rd, Ottawa, KS 66067. If you have any questions about the conference you can email me at pres @ midamericafruit.org or by calling 816-650-5535. To contact Mike Gerhardt use treas @ midamericafruit.org 785-242-5511.
