WHAT ARE STUDENTS SAYING?

  • “My most important involvement on the Columbus campus was the interaction with a lot of students and researchers in Agriculture. Some of the contacts I have made are priceless and the knowledge gained from others cannot be taught in a classroom.”

    college life 2
  • “I had the incredible opportunity to work South of London, England last summer and it was the experience of a lifetime. Very few schools, if any, have the support base in place to send students overseas for internships. I think everyone should spend time overseas; you gain an appreciation for another culture and more appreciation for your own.”

  • “My advisor not only helps me with scheduling, but makes me aware of job opportunities and scholarships as they become available. He helps me out with letters of recommendation and even came to visit me to see how my internship was going.”

HOW HARD IS IT TO GET A SCHOLARSHIP?
Glad you asked, because it can just be a matter of figuring out which ones you are eligible for, and the criteria can vary quite a bit. Each year there are scholarships at the University, College and Department levels that go unclaimed. In some cases, all you have to say is “Show me the money!” Now, how hard is that?

HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES?
We know you’re not crazy about sitting in a class with hundreds of people, so you’ll be relieved to know that the average class size in your major is approximately 25-30 people. So don’t count on catching a nap in the back of the auditorium!

DID YOU SAY PERSONAL ATTENTION from WORLD-CLASS FACULTY?
You heard right! Once you are part of the “friendliest” College on campus, you will be assigned a personal faculty adviser, and world-renowned experts will be calling you by name. There are 45 Hort & Crop Science faculty for less than 300 students. You do the math!

WILL I GET TO USE STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES?
What else would a Level One Research University use to stay on top? We don’t expect you to work with anything but the best greenhouses, labs, equipment and technology available. And it’s all right here on our campus. After all, we’re counting on you to continue our legacy of developing and providing cutting-edge information to the plant science industry.

DO I HAVE TO TAKE AN INTERNSHIP?
Whether it is in your hometown, or overseas, you cannot fulfill your graduation requirements without at least one internship. Internships have proven to be the singlemost important factor in the real-life experience you need to get a good job. Many students consider their internship the best thing about their college careers and are often hired on with the same company after they graduate.

AM I GUARANTEED A JOB AFTER I GRADUATE?
We figure with a 95% placement rate, chances are you will be turning down offers left and right! Let’s put it this way; if you really want to hit the ground running, we have all the resources you need. The OSU network is an amazing advantage when it comes to internships and job placement.
