Photography Contest

“Earth Science Beyond Your Front Door”

Whether you are a young person yourself or an adult who works with youngsters, you can lead an educational outdoor adventure. When was the last time you climbed a mountain? Hiked a trail? Visited a wetland? Earth science is all around us, and the best way for young people to experience it is to get outside and look! Show your outdoor Earth science adventure.

Visual Arts Contest

“Studying Our Earth”

How do Earth scientists go about answering their questions? They use a system of inquiry in which a question is asked, and answers are proposed, then tested. Show yourself as an Earth scientist using the inquiry approach to answer a question in nature.

Essay Contest

“Earth Connections”

Earth science is all about the interactions between different natural processes. Shifting tectonic plates can build a mountain. Rain can erode a hillside. Go outside, explore your area, and look for local examples. Discuss how various natural processes on the Earth are interconnected and how they affect each other where you live.
