The LIMA Quest Challenge is a NASA Education Office program that had students conducting their own exploration of Antarctica using LIMA. It is described at http://quest.nasa.gov/challenges/lima/index.html.

Students were asked to find a feature of interest and significance, learn more about the feature, then write a short justification (proposal) explaining why their feature warranted additional study. The proposals were reviewed by a panel of scientists (see http://quest.nasa.gov/challenges/lima/bios.html) who offered suggestions for improvements. Interaction was through a combination of e-mail, webchats and webcasts. Over 3200 students led by 140 teachers from 33 States and 10 countries participated.
