Web Conference
Third in a series of Web conferences on surge capacity, this event was broadcast October 26, 2004. It was designed to help State, local, and health system policymakers explore key issues, research findings, and strategies for the use of facilities and equipment to enhance hospital surge capacity.

Program Objectives
This series was designed to:
- Highlight the Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) surge capacity priorities, activities, and initiatives.
- Discuss the integration of scenario-based and quantitative surge capacity models to plan for mass casualty events.
- Explore school-based preparedness for mass casualty bioterrorism events and other large-scale public health emergencies or disasters.
- Examine the requirements, specifications, and resources needed to develop a public health emergency contact center that is highly integrated with public health agencies.

Playback Tips

Software Requirements
To access the audio clips, you will need Real® player software installed on your computer. To download a free RealOne® player, go to http://www.real.com and select "Free RealOne® Player." Check the minimum requirements for each for your system; if you are a Macintosh or Unix/Linux user, select the player appropriate for your computer.
Follow the instructions provided for download and installation. If you are unsure of where you saved it on your computer, select "Start" on your navigation bar, then "Find," and search for "Real." When you find the folder, look for the "Set-Up" box, select that, and the installation will begin.
