Faculty Training

Training Services

IDC offers a variety of training opportunities in multimedia technologies for faculty and staff. Courses are available in multiple formats, from informational seminars to hands-on multimedia workshops that offer you the opportunity to actively explore multimedia software. E-mail us at tlt-training@purdue.edu or visit http://www.itap.purdue.edu/training/.

Please note that we may occasionally cancel scheduled training sessions for which there is insufficient registration.

In the event of a cancellation, we will contact you via email two business days in advance of the training session. We will be happy to arrange a private consulting session to provide any assistance you may need.

Courses and hands-on workshops include:

  • Blackboard Vista
  • Web Design (Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Macromedia Fireworks, Macromedia Flash, Adobe Acrobat)
  • Graphics and Imaging (Macromedia Fireworks, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Publisher)
  • Digital Video (Camtasia, Microsoft MovieMaker)
  • Special Interest (Universal Accessibility, Acer Tablet PC)

Customized Multimedia Software Training

TLT can develop quality workshops packed with information, techniques, and tools that can make your department more effective. In addition, these workshops provide participating staff and faculty with valuable resource materials that will facilitate learning after the event has concluded. Topics from our training catalog can be modified to meet the specific needs of your department or class. These custom-tailored classes can even use examples, procedures, and content from your specific content area.

Benefits:

  • Pre-class planning ensures that the subject matter is appropriate and meaningful to the participants.
  • Flexibility - training designed for the client, both in content and format.
  • Communication, bonding, and teamwork improve as participants learn together.

Who Do We Train?
TLT's services are primarily intended for Purdue faculty, staff, and graduate students engaged in the development and delivery of instruction.

In addition, the Digital Learning Collaboratory provides specialized IT training for Purdue undergraduates in academic classes and official student organizations. See IDC's policy on training for undergraduates, then contact us to see how we can help.

Where Do We Train?
With TLT's Mobile Laboratory, a nifty cart that stores 25 high-end laptops, we can offer our customized training centrally, at Stewart Center. Or we can arrange training in one of ITaP's instructional labs, available in more than 20 academic buildings across campus.
