Assessments

  • Wyoming Rural Development Council - Under the partnership with the Wyoming Rural Development Council, the Business Council supports community assessment efforts by participating in the actual assessments and training the resource team members. So far 75 assessments have been completed. The objective of the community assessments is to provide experts in economic and community development who can assist rural communities with locally conceived and driven development strategies.
  • Wadley-Donovan Group Target Industry Assessment - The Wyoming Business Council released the Wadley-Donovan Study on Target Industries and Workforce Availability in March 2005. The study, broken into 12 separate areas or zones, is available online.

These documents include downtown development plans, revitalization plans, and regional economic development plans.
  • CDBG Planning Grants - Downtown development grants target CDBG assistance to the downtown area. Generally, this includes assistance for public facilities, rehabilitation of commercial buildings, historic preservation, land acquisition and site clearance.

Wyoming Self-Sufficiency Standard
The Wyoming Standard measures the income required for Wyoming families to be self-sufficient. By using the Wyoming Standard, we can learn about what wages are adequate to pay for basic living costs such as housing, child care, food, transportation, and health care. We can use this information to create pathways to self-sufficiency in providing education and training and encouraging the growth of the high-wage sector.

The effort to conduct the Wyoming Standard was led by First Lady Nancy Freudenthal and 20 other Wyoming professionals in areas of social services, government, and business. The group worked with the University of Washington and an organization called Wider Opportunities for Women (WOW). The University of Washington and WOW have successfully conducted Self-Sufficiency Standard projects in 36 states, including Wyoming. For more information, please visit the links below.
