The Land is the foundation of farm sustainability. These courses develop a deeper understanding of farm fertility. Soils 101, Managing Organic Matter, and Managing Cover Crops Profitably are a few of the Cooperative Farmer Instructor led courses designed to introduce fundamentals to new and advanced farmers. the farmThe Farm offers production based workshops in market crops and animal production. These workshops serve as tools for all types of farmers, including topics that relate to pest management, grazing systems, pasturing poultry and beekeeping. See the Schedule

the foodThe Tools are workshops that range from entry level equipment usage to finding added value on the farm, and result in practical skills that will accelerate business development and lead to more profitable practices. See the Schedule

the questThe Community represents the relationship that consumers need in today's society to feel more closely connected to the farms that produce the food they eat. Learn the techniques required to take raw products from the farm and transform them into value-added products for market or the dinner table. Traditional farm life skills are taught in Michael Fields’ Kitchen with farm fresh products featuring goats-milk soap making, sourdough bread baking, wood crafting, dairy processing and food preservation techniques. Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training (CRAFT) is an alliance of Illinois and Wisconsin farms and market gardens committed to the education of beginning agriculturalists. The alliance offers a yearly program of on-farm demonstrations, tours and work exchanges.
