Expanding Employee Giving Options: ORNL's 2007 Community Shares Campaign

ORNL's 2007 COMMUNITY SHARES CAMPAIGN

ORNL's Community Shares program has grown steadily over the past few years, including the expansion of UT-Battelle employee choices in charitable giving options via payroll deduction. In our campaign during the fall of 2006, the generosity of ORNL employees continued to increase support over previous years, with contributions totalling over $33,000 to Community Shares and its member agencies. There is no campaign goal - you, the employees decide what you can and want to contribute.

ORNL employees are conducting their 2007 Community Shares Campaign during the months of October and November. However, you do not have to wait until then to sign up for payroll deduction. This can be done at any time. Just download and print the payroll authorization form, fill it out and send it to the following address:

Many UT-Battelle employees are long-time supporters of Community Shares and/or its member agencies, and this payroll deduction option provides a convenient mechanism for spreading contributions over the year. Others who are unfamiliar with Community Shares will find a diversity of local community organizations working to build a stronger community. Some of the Community Shares member organizations will be familiar and have already been supported through Team UT-Battelle's volunteer work. Community Shares member agencies do not overlap with those vital groups supported by United Way. The United Way focuses on high-priority, direct human service agencies in our communities. Community Shares contributions support complementary non-profit, community groups that work to addressroot causes of problems that individuals and communities face - problems including hunger, health care, domestic violence, justice, and environmental issues.

ORNL staff members have shown exceptional generosity to our communities in terms of personal service and financial contributions through numerous avenues, and we are pleased to support your generosity with this new payroll deduction capability.
