Division of Toxicology and Environmental Medicine

About the Acting Director

Dr. Edward Murray has been Acting Director for the Division of Toxicology and Environmental Medicine (DTEM), Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) since December 2007. Previous to his selection as Acting Director, Dr. Murray was the Deputy Director, DTEM. Dr. Murray has been in DTEM since 1997 where he was the Chief, Applied Toxicology Branch.

Dr. Murray is also a part-time instructor at Georgia State University, Department of Biology, Atlanta, Georgia, and an adjunct Full Professor at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University.

Dr. Murray has been the recipient of the PHS Commendation Award both in 1999 and again in 1996. He has received PHS Citations both in 1998 and 1995.

Dr. Murray received his PH.D from the University of Texas, School of Public Health and received his M.S. from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Murray is a member of the Academic Advisory Council for the Division of Environmental and Occupational Health, Emory University School of Public Health. He is also an Advisory Committee Member, Environmental Research Center, Georgia State University.
