Carbon sequestration, the idea of capturing carbon dioxide before it is emitted to the atmosphere and storing it in underground rock formations or otherwise sequestering it, has progressed steadily over the past 10 years. It is now poised to become a key technology option for greenhouse gas emissions abatement.
