| JST builds a variety of databases of useful scientific and technological information by collecting them from around the world and offers them to contribute to the dissemination of information expected to support scientific and technological activities in Japan. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Resources for the databases include about 16,000 titles of periodicals, technical reports, proceedings, public data and preprints in diverse fields of science and technology. They are collected not only within Japan but from all over the world. Abstracts (in Japanese) of useful articles are entered into the Science and Technology Database and the Japanese Medical Science Database with keywords and classification codes attached. Source materials that have undergone information processing are stored at the JST Library in Tokyo or Tsukuba. Source materials are available for public access and photocopying. Materials held in our libraries but no database thereof is made can be obtainable by our copying service. In April 2006, JST started a new web-based document retrieval system named "JDream II" by integrating its two conventional search systems of JOIS (used mainly on a usage-based-pricing system) and JDream (used on a fixed-fee basis mainly by universities, national/public research institutes and hospitals). JDream II provides direct access to the scientific, technological and medical databases produced by JST. It has two types of user interface: a simple mode for novice-level search and a command mode for a finetuned advanced-level search. JDream II has a full-text linking service, which provides direct access from the search results to PDF of the original material (linked to J-STAGE, Medical and Pharmaceutical Proceedings Full-Text Database, PubMed, and other electronic journal sites of publishers).Users can view the original articles in PDF format or purchase them on a per-article basis. Furthermore, in connection with OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) in the library of user's organization, JDream II provides the "Your collection" function, which allows simple and prompt checks of whether or not the articles searched with JDream II are held in the library. JDream II is also accessible through gateway distributors such as G-Search and NIKKEI TELECOM. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| For those who have no sufficient time for retrieval or confidence in their own retrieving skill, we provide many types of service adapted to the customers' needs. | The proceedings published and granted by medical and pharmaceutical societies in Japan are converted into PDF files and provided as a full text database. The full original articles can be viewed on the Web by searching by keywords, speaker names, co-researcher names, organization names, society names or proceeding titles, etc. Full texts of 720,000 articles of proceedings, some of which are also stored in JMEDPlus file, are available through this service. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
