TRANSFER STUDENT INFORMATON

Applicants who have attended a regionally accredited college or university are considered for admission to all sessions. Applicants must have a cumulative average of “C” (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) or above and be in good standing at the previous institutions.  Courses eligible for transfer must be college level courses with a minimum grade of "C". 

A transfer applicant with fewer than 24 semester hours must submit an official copy of the high school transcript as well as copies of the SAT or ACT scores along with the college transcript.   

An applicant transferring from a Virginia Community College or other two-year state institution, who has completed the requirements for the Associate in Arts (A.A.) or Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in the College Parallel/College Transfer Program, may be granted junior status at VSU upon admission.  An applicant who has not completed the requirements for an Associates of Arts/ Science degree may be admitted based on a course-by-course credit evaluation. Applicants with the Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree will be evaluated based on a course by course method.  The application fee is waived for all Virginia Community College System transfers. 

Transfer applicants with Associate degrees from other states may be admitted based on a course by course evaluation.  The application fee is required.

Applying for Admissions
 To apply for admissions to Virginia State University as a transfer student, an applicant must submit the following:
  •  Completed application
  • $25 non refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
  • Click here for the Confidential Report to be completed by the last college/ university attended
  • 2 letters of recommendation from a combination of academic counselors, employers, teachers, etc.
  • SAT/ACT scores, if applicable
  • High school transcript, if applicable 

All documentation must be submitted to the Transfer Coordinator no later than December 15 for the Spring semester or July 15 for the Fall semester.   Send applications to:
