Qualifications:
-M.D. or D.O. with Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics; with 5 years or more of medical practice (post residency) in primary care practice specialty.
-Must possess an unrestricted CT license to practice medicine or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hiring.
-Must have staff privileges at one general hospital in New London County
-Must submit a BCI and demonstrate proof of being free from disqualifying information
-Must maintain current certification in CPR at the healthcare provider level of the American Heart Association
-Must possess a current DEA Certificate to write prescriptions for Code I and Code II medications
-Must possess a current Connecticut Controlled Substance Certificate
-Must have a valid driver’s license and demonstrate proof of Driver’s License Verification Record from the DMV.
-Must be willing to develop knowledge of MPTN tribal culture and traditions
Duties:
- Complete management of primary medical care for assigned patients, including: provision of care by appointment review documentation and management of medical records review coordination of referred services including laboratory, specialty care, pharmacy, and ancillary services.
-After hours call and coverage
-Involvement in all urgent and emergent clinical events
-Supervise the development, implementation, and operation of continuous quality improvement program, as it relates to patient care clinical services.
-Continuous surveillance, study, and evaluation of on-going clinical activities to ensure adherence to established standards and criteria and the application of new developments and trends in the delivery of health care
-In conjunction with the THS Director, develop health care plan based on community health needs, epidemiology of the community, and behavior of the community
-Establish, revise, and amend clinical policies and protocols with the assistance of the clinical team, keeping compliance with Federal/State/Tribal standards
-Keeps informed on JCAHO requirements for all related areas.
