Federal Career Intern Program (FCIP) & Department of Army (DA) Intern Program

The FCIP is a competitive training program that is designed to prepare employees in various occupations for subsequent advancement in professional, administrative, and technological career fields with the Army Civilian Corps. This program includes two-week to twelve-week rotations through various professional roles in order to produce a well-rounded professional with a broad network of acquaintances throughout the Walla Walla District and Northwestern Division of the Corps of Engineers. The interns enter the program at the GS-5 and GS-7 levels (or equivalent) as permanent full-time employees. Upon graduation from the 1-2 year program, interns are placed in professional level GS-9 or GS-11 positions (or equivalent), according to the career intern program target grade and availability of permanent placement opportunities.

The DA Intern Program is very similar to the FCIP. It is unique in that DA interns are funded by the Department of Army Headquarters for the duration of the program.  The intern commits to Army-wide geographical availability in order to receive optimal training and allow Headquarters to permanently place the intern in a location which suits the best interests of the Army.
