Soldiers and Civilian members of the Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, have answered the country's call to support the Global War on Terrorism.  These men and women have served for periods of several weeks to several months at a time to help rebuild other nations. Members of the Walla Walla District have inspected dams that produce electricity for a nation's economy to ensure their structural safety and integrity, and availability for postwar use by the the country's people.  In addition, Corps and District members are restoring the country's oil industry and rebuilding schools, roads, and basic necessary infrastructure systems that have deteriorated over the past several decades.  Serving long hours, far from families and "normal life", Walla Walla District members who are or have deployed overseas are volunteers, proud to serve their nation and the world.  More than 100 GWOT mission positions have been filled by Walla Walla District Soldiers and Civilians.  As the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says: "Essayons!" which means 'Let Us Try."
