The Center for Rural Affairs works to establish strong rural communities, social and economic justice, environmental stewardship, and genuine opportunity for all while engaging people in decisions that affect the quality of their lives and the future of their communities.

Since its inception, the Center has resisted the role of advocating for the agenda of any particular group. Instead, we have chosen to advance a set of values - responsibility, opportunity, and stewardship - values that reflect the best of Rural America. Ultimately, we believe it is in the interest of all to create a future reflecting those values. Read our full Mission and Values Statement.

For more than 30 years the Center for Rural Affairs has fought the battles that matter. Our policy team stood up and continues to stand up for limits to corporate farming, and we are moving to close farm bill payment loopholes with our 2007 Farm Bill work. Our media team shapes the debate with a reach that extends to the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, and hundreds of daily and weekly papers throughout rural America. Our direct service work helps beginning farmers and ranchers, and our small business assistance program continues to help launch new rural businesses with microloan support. Your financial support makes all of this possible.

However, We cannot claim any of these victories, because they belong to you - the courageous men and women who make their voices heard every single day in the debate over the future of rural America. These victories belong to you and all who seek justice for rural America. By joining in support of our work you make it possible for this work to go on.

Your individual donations provide a valuable income stream to pay for programs and services not fully funded by grants and other funding sources. Individual donations provided the Center with the resources to move quickly to meet new challenges and respond immediately to opportunities as they arise. When you contribute to the Center for Rural Affairs you become an important part of our work, and working together is the only way we will achieve our goal of strong, just, and sustainable rural communities.

We may not win every battle, but make no mistake, our voice is being heard. We are winning, and every day that we fight on, every day that we persist, brings us closer a just, vibrant, and sustainable future for our rural communities.

Thank you for supporting the Center for Rural Affairs.
