About PMA: Executive Leadership


Bryan Silbermann, President and CEO

Bryan Silbermann joined PMA in 1983 and in 1996 was elected president. As the chief executive of PMA, he directs more than 75 staff professionals and has been instrumental in developing new programs and services for the fresh produce and floral industry, including:

  • Researching consumer demand for fresh produce
  • Launching the national 5 A Day program in the United States
  • Training programs
  • Standardized coding systems for produce and floral
  • Food safety communication campaigns

Bryan is a frequent speaker at industry meetings worldwide and is a visiting lecturer at St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia. He is interviewed often by national and international media, representing the industry on TV and radio. Supermarket News has recognized Bryan as one of the top 50 "power players" whose actions drive the food industry. He is currently chairman-elect of the Partnership for Food Safety Education, a national program that unites industry, government and consumer organizations to teach safe food handling.

Born, raised, and educated in Durban, South Africa, Bryan now lives in Delaware, U.S.A., where PMA has its headquarters. He also studied at the University of Chicago and Oxford University, England. Bryan's personal interests include music, golf, photography, and travel. He and his wife Bonnie have two sons, Gregg and Brian.

Lorna D. Christie, Chief Operating Officer

Lorna Christie joined PMA in 2002. As Senior Vice President, Industry Products and Services (IPS) Ms. Christie directs the activities of PMA staff responsible for continually enhancing member value and revenue production. The IPS team coordinates member volunteer activities and is responsible for membership recruitment and retention, as well as PMA events, product development, government relations, industry technology and standards, marketing communications, volunteer leadership, and business development.

Ms. Christie is an accomplished industry spokesperson and effective marketing and public relations strategist with proven crisis management and mitigation experience.

Ms. Christie's career experience includes senior management roles in corporate, public, and government organizations. Prior to joining PMA she served as Chief Administrative Officer for Image Data, LLC, a high-tech firm specializing in identity theft protection. The majority of her career was spent in Washington, D.C., as Vice President, Consumer Affairs for the Direct Marketing Association. She also served under the George Bush Administration in the Office of the Special Advisor to the President, United States Office of Consumer Affairs, where she held the position of Associate Director/Industry and International Affairs.

Duane Eaton, Chief Administrative Officer

Duane Eaton joined PMA in 1979. He served a variety of roles in the organization before being promoted to Senior Vice President of Association Services in 2003 with the responsibility of managing all of PMA's internal operations. He is responsible for providing members and staff with the appropriate infrastructure systems and support needed to access services, achieve strategic objectives, and grow member value.

Prior to joining PMA, he served as National Education, Manpower and Safety Manager for the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) in Washington, D.C., as Apprenticeship Coordinator for the Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter of the ABC, and as secondary school teacher in Baltimore City.

Eaton achieved his Certified Exposition Manager certification from the International Association of Exposition Management in 1987 and his Certified Association Executive certification from the American Society for Association Executives in 1989.
