Programs & Activities

Our office, The Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF), located at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi, would like to share our educational materials with you. The educational material we offer is beneficial to all grade levels and answers simple questions such as "Where does water come from?" to the more complex questions about hazardous waste pollution in rivers and streams. If you are a school teacher, festival or conference organizer, or civic group, we would be pleased to come share the facts about water and earth science with your class, festival, or civic group. The program can be as simple as distributing USGS pamphlets and brochures; having speakers with a slide show introducing the agency and types of work performed; or actual demonstrations of equipment used and "hands-on" experiments. There is no charge for any of our materials or services.

Why We Do It?

The establishment and success of an outreach program is a high priority for the USGS and the HIF which hopes to inform the public of the mission, methods, and benefits of the work that the USGS performs.
