Guidelines for Communicating Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health Science

Since it affects everyone, everywhere, consumers are hungry for news on the latest food safety and nutrition studies. But these studies sometimes can lead to confusion, because they can seem to contradict one another from week to week. This is why the IFIC Foundation teamed up with the Harvard School of Public Health to convene an advisory group of journalists, nutrition researchers, food scientists, journal editors, university press officers, consumer organizations, and food industry executives. Discussions and roundtables with the group gave birth to Improving Public Understanding: Guidelines for Communicating Emerging Science on Nutrition, Food Safety, and Health.

These Guidelines offer tips to scientists, public relations professionals, and journalists on how best to communicate emerging science on nutrition, food safety, and health.
